Levostranné

Levostranné is a Czech adjective meaning left-handed or left-sided. It describes something that is associated with the left side of the body, a left-oriented position, or a feature located on the left. The opposite form is pravostranné, meaning right-handed or right-sided.

In human biology and medicine, levostranné is used to refer to left-sided organs, structures, or functions. For example, levostranné postavení srdce would describe a left-sided heart or leftward orientation of cardiac structures, and levostranné vyšetření can indicate examination focused on the left side. In biology, the term can describe left-handedness in individuals, though the common noun for a left-handed person is levák rather than levostranný. In botany and zoology it may describe structures oriented to the left; in anatomy it is frequently used in relation to the body's midline.

In chemistry and physics, the adjective can appear in discussions of orientation or chirality, such as left-handed (levostranný) helices or enantiomers. In Czech scientific usage, however, other terms such as levotočivý (levogyrní) and pravotočivý (dextrorotní) are also used to denote optical activity or handedness, depending on the context.
