Lessenlijst

Lessenlijst is a Dutch term that describes a compiled list of lessons or courses offered by an educational or training organization. It can refer to a catalog of available courses or to a plan of lessons for a student’s program. The term is used by schools, universities, language centers, and other training providers.

A typical lessenlijst includes essential details about each course or lesson. Common items are the course code, title, brief description, number of credits or hours, level or prerequisites, the instructor or department, and the term or semester in which it is offered. In some contexts the lijst also notes costs, contact hours, delivery method (in person or online), and enrollment status.

Use and purpose vary by setting. For institutions, the lessenlijst serves as an overview of the offered curriculum and a basis for student enrollment and program planning. For learners, it functions as a guide to select courses, plan a study path, and compare options. In private or vocational education, a lessenlijst can also list available private or group lessons, including subjects, levels, and prices.

A related concept is the less enrooster (timetable), which specifies when lessons take place. While a timetable shows scheduling, the lessenlijst focuses on the offerings themselves. In practice, institutions may publish both documents or integrate them into a single student information system.
