Lentoon

Lentoon is a fictional coastal city and provincial capital created for contemporary urban-worldbuilding contexts. It lies along the Veridian Gulf and is known for a temperate, wet-summer climate. The city functions as a commercial and cultural hub for the surrounding region.

Founded in 1736 as a trading outpost by merchants from the inland plateau, Lentoon grew through port commerce and a later railway link. In the 19th and 20th centuries it diversified into manufacturing, education, and services. In the late 20th century, it adopted urban renewal programs to expand green space and public transit.

Lentoon is the seat of Lentoon Province and is administered by a mayor and city council within Veridia. The economy centers on logistics, ship maintenance, light manufacturing, academia, and tourism. The Port Quarter remains the largest employment cluster.

The city hosts Lentoon University, a public research university, and several museums and theaters. It holds the Lantern Festival each spring, which draws visitors from across Veridia. The bilingual population uses Veridian and English in official settings.

The city population is around 380,000 in the metropolitan area. It is served by a light-rail network, an international port, and ferry connections. Urban planning emphasizes density, walkability, and green corridors.
