Lenticulidae
Lenticulidae is a family of freshwater snails, commonly known as bladder snails. These gastropod mollusks are characterized by their thin, translucent shells, which are typically coiled in a sinistral (left-handed) direction. The family is widespread and found in a variety of aquatic habitats, including ponds, lakes, slow-moving streams, and even temporary puddles. Lenticulidae are detritivores, feeding primarily on decaying organic matter, algae, and diatoms. They play an important role in aquatic ecosystems as decomposers.
The reproductive strategy of Lenticulidae is notable for their hermaphroditism; each individual possesses both male and
