Lekukan
Lekukan is a term used in geology and geomorphology to describe a bend or curve in a geological feature. It is often applied to the sinuous course of a river or stream, where the channel deviates from a straight path. These bends, known as meanders, are formed by the erosive action of flowing water. As water moves downstream, it tends to flow faster on the outside of a curve, causing erosion and widening the bank. On the inside of the curve, water velocity is slower, leading to deposition of sediment and the formation of a point bar. Over time, this differential erosion and deposition causes the river to migrate across its floodplain, creating a characteristic meandering pattern.
The term lekukan can also be used more generally to describe any curvature in a geological formation.
