Launastuðning

Launastuðning is a concept within the field of Icelandic law that deals with the rights of employed individuals in regards to their working conditions and collective agreements with their employers. This is typically referring to the labor law and trade union policies in Iceland.

According to Icelandic labor law, Launastuðning is essentially the security paid by the employer to the employee, who quits or is dismissed, for the agreed-upon notice period. During this time, the employee continues to receive their pay from the employer, while looking for a new job. This is often tied to collective agreements between labor unions and employers.

These collective agreements, in turn, outline the wages, working hours, and benefits to which the employees are entitled. They serve as the foundation for the Launastuðning, setting the amount of pay the employee receives when they are not actively working but still drawing a salary.

Launastuðning is not limited to just these specific circumstances, but also includes additional laws and regulations regarding unpaid periods, severance pay, and workers compensation in the event of a layoff within the agreement established by the Icelandic labor government.
