Latitudave is a fictional metric used in geographic information science to illustrate how spatial summaries might be combined with temporal information. The term blends latitude with average, signaling a purpose to represent the latitude distribution of observations across a time interval. In the concept, latitudave is computed by aggregating data points with location coordinates and timestamps, calculating a mean latitude within each subinterval, and then integrating those means with a temporal weighting to produce a single index for the entire window. The resulting value, typically constrained to a fixed range, can reflect both where data are concentrated geographically and when those concentrations occur.

Origin and concept: The term latitudave is not part of standard GIS terminology; it arises in educational contexts and thought experiments to discuss data fusion, normalization, and interpretation issues when combining spatial and temporal summaries.
