Lastenfreiheit

Lastenfreiheit is a term used in German real estate law to describe the status of a property that is free from encumbrances (Lasten) that would restrict the owner's rights or the transfer of ownership. Encumbrances can include mortgage liens, other charges registered in the land register, easements or servitudes, and restrictions on use. A property stated as lastenfrei should not have such burdens registered, unless rights are expressly excluded or already terminated by legal means.
