Laserjärjestelmän refers to a laser system in Finnish. A laser system is a device that produces and manipulates a beam of light through a process called stimulated emission. The gain medium is a material that can amplify light, such as a solid crystal, a gas, or a liquid dye. The pumping source provides energy to excite the atoms or molecules in the gain medium, creating a population inversion where more atoms are in a higher energy state than a lower one. The optical resonator, usually made of two mirrors, reflects light back and forth through the gain medium, causing further amplification and creating a coherent, monochromatic, and directional beam of light.
