Larciano

Larciano is a comune (municipality) in the Italian region of Tuscany, located in the Province of Pistoia. It lies in the Valdinievole area of central Tuscany, near the towns of Pescia and Montecatini Terme, and includes the historic town center as well as surrounding rural areas.

The area shows evidence of early settlement and developed as a medieval hill town. Larciano grew around a hilltop fortress, the Castello di Larciano, which played a defensive role in the Middle Ages. Over the centuries it was ruled by local feudal families and later incorporated into the territories that formed the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

The terrain is predominantly hilly, with agricultural land, olive groves and vineyards common in the landscape. The local economy traditionally relies on agriculture, small-scale manufacturing and services, with tourism associated to the regional Tuscan landscape.

Notable sights include the Castello di Larciano, an ancient hilltop fortress, and several parish churches that reflect the town's medieval and religious history.

Larciano is governed by a mayor and municipal council. It maintains cultural and historical associations and hosts local festivals reflecting Tuscan traditions.
