Lakóhelyet

Lakóhelyet is the accusative form of lakóhely, a Hungarian term referring to the place where a person has their officially registered residence. In administrative contexts, lakóhely is the domicile or permanent home used for public records, correspondence, and official procedures. The concept is central in civil registration, taxation, social security, healthcare, and voting.

Difference with tartózkodási hely: lakóhely denotes the place of permanent or long-term residence, while tartózkodási hely refers to a temporary stay or current place of residence without implying long-term domicile. A person can have a lakóhely different from where they stay temporarily, for example for work or study.

Determination and use: A lakóhely is generally established by the place where the person owns or rents a dwelling, where they spend the majority of their time, and where they receive mail and official communications. When moving, individuals must update records with local authorities and institutions; the lakóhely is used to determine eligibility and jurisdiction for voting, health care, taxation, and social benefits.
