Lainaamismallit, also known as lending models, refer to the various structures and frameworks that financial institutions and other entities use to provide loans to individuals, businesses, or governments. These models dictate the terms, conditions, and processes involved in borrowing and repaying money, aiming to manage risk and ensure profitability for the lender.

One common lending model is the traditional bank loan, where a financial institution assesses a borrower's creditworthiness and offers a loan with a fixed or variable interest rate over a set period. Another is peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, which uses online platforms to connect individual borrowers with individual investors, bypassing traditional intermediaries. Marketplace lending is similar to P2P but often involves institutional investors alongside individuals.

Securitization is a more complex model where loans are pooled together and then sold as securities to investors. This allows lenders to free up capital and transfer risk. Microfinance lending targets low-income individuals and small businesses, often with smaller loan amounts and more flexible repayment terms, aiming to promote economic development.

The choice of a lending model depends on factors such as the lender's risk appetite, the borrower's needs, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages concerning accessibility, cost of borrowing, and risk for both parties. The evolution of technology has also led to the development of new digital lending models, incorporating automated underwriting and faster loan processing.
