Lagtingsmenn
Lagtingsmenn were members of the Lagting, one of the two chambers of the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting, during the period from 1814 to 2009. The Storting was divided into the Lagting and the Odelsting. The Lagting was the upper chamber, responsible for reviewing legislation passed by the Odelsting. It was composed of one-fourth of the members of the Storting, selected by the Storting itself. The Lagting's role was to ensure that laws were constitutional and well-drafted. It could approve or reject legislation from the Odelsting, but it could not amend it. If the Lagting rejected a bill, it was sent back to the Odelsting for reconsideration. If the Odelsting did not agree with the Lagting's objections, the bill could be passed if two-thirds of the combined Storting voted in favor.
