Lämpösuihkutus

Lämpösuihkutus, also known as thermal spraying, is a group of coating processes in which heated material is sprayed onto a surface. The source of heat can be an electric arc, a combustion flame, or plasma. The material to be sprayed is typically in the form of a powder, wire, or rod, and it is melted and propelled towards the substrate by a high-velocity gas stream. Upon impact, the molten or semi-molten particles flatten, cool, and solidify, forming a cohesive coating.

The primary purpose of thermal spraying is to impart specific properties to the substrate surface that it would not otherwise possess. These properties can include wear resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal insulation, electrical insulation, or improved aesthetics. The process is versatile and can be applied to a wide range of materials, including metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites.

Common thermal spraying processes include plasma spraying, flame spraying, arc spraying, and high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spraying. Each process has its own advantages and limitations regarding the types of materials that can be applied, the coating characteristics, and the cost. The choice of process depends on the intended application and the desired coating properties. Thermal spray coatings find applications in industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing, protecting components from harsh environments and improving their performance and lifespan.
