Lämpökovettuviiin

Lämpökovettuviiin refers to thermosetting polymers, a class of materials that irreversibly harden when heated. This hardening process, known as curing, involves the formation of permanent chemical cross-links between polymer chains. These cross-links create a rigid, three-dimensional network structure that is stable at elevated temperatures.

Unlike thermoplastics, which can be repeatedly melted and reshaped upon heating, thermosets, once cured, cannot be re-melted. Instead, excessive heat will cause them to degrade or char. This inherent property makes thermosets suitable for applications requiring high temperature resistance and dimensional stability.

The curing process can be initiated by heat, but also by other methods such as radiation or chemical initiators.
