Kyynelvuodosta

Kyynelvuodosta is a small village located in the municipality of Pikkajärvi in the Southern Ostrobothnia region of Finland. The village lies on the eastern shore of Lake Kuutikki, surrounded by mixed coniferous forests and agricultural fields. Its population is approximately 260 residents, most of whom have lived in the area for several generations. The village is accessible via a local road that connects to the national highway 4, which links the region to the city of Vaasa and the capital, Helsinki.

The history of Kyynelvuodosta can be traced back to the early 19th century when settlers from Päijänne were attracted by the fertile soil and abundant timber resources. The village grew steadily, and a Lutheran church was built in 1842, becoming a central place for community gatherings and religious services. During the Second World War, the village was requisitioned for agricultural production to support the war effort, and this period saw the construction of a small military outpost nearby.

Today, the economy of Kyynelvuodosta is dominated by agriculture, forestry, and small-scale tourism. Many families run family farms, growing barley, rye, and rearing cattle. The surrounding forests support a modest timber industry, while the scenic lake attracts visitors for fishing and kayaking.
