Kwiastostanów, also known as inflorescences, are clusters of flowers arranged on a stem. This arrangement is a common feature in many plant species and can vary significantly in structure and appearance. The primary stem bearing the flowers is called the peduncle, and the smaller stalks that support individual flowers are called pedicels.

Inflorescences serve several purposes for plants. They can increase the plant's attractiveness to pollinators by presenting a larger, more conspicuous display of flowers. This can lead to a higher success rate in pollination and fertilization. The arrangement can also protect developing flower buds, and in some cases, the inflorescence itself can play a role in seed dispersal.

There are numerous types of inflorescences, broadly categorized as either racemose or cymose. Racemose inflorescences have an unbranched main stem where flowers develop sequentially from the base upwards, with the youngest flowers at the apex. Examples include racemes, spikes, and catkins. Cymose inflorescences, on the other hand, have a determinate growth pattern, meaning the terminal flower blooms first, and subsequent flowers develop from lateral buds. This results in an older flower at the apex and younger flowers below. Examples include cymes and scorpioid cymes. Other types exist, such as compound inflorescences like corymbs and umbels, which combine elements of both racemose and cymose structures or have specialized arrangements of pedicels. The study and classification of inflorescences are important in plant morphology and taxonomy.
