Kuparinitraatin

Kuparinitraatti is a chemical compound with the formula Cu(NO3)2. It is a salt formed from copper and nitrate ions. In its anhydrous form, kuparinitraatti is a white crystalline solid, but it commonly exists as a hydrate, most notably the trihydrate, Cu(NO3)2·3H2O, which is a blue or green crystalline solid. This hydrated form is readily soluble in water, forming a blue solution. Kuparinitraatti is also soluble in some organic solvents like ethanol and acetone.

The compound can be synthesized by reacting copper metal or copper oxide with nitric acid. It is an oxidizing agent due to the presence of nitrate ions.
