Contexts and usage: In mathematics and statistics, kumulering describes constructing running totals and other accumulated measures. A kumulert sum is the sum of values up to a given point. The kumulativ fordelingsfunksjon (kumulative fordelingsfunksjon) is the cumulative distribution function, F(x) = P(X ≤ x). In data analysis, begreper som kumulativ frekvens and kumulativt diagram (ogive) show the accumulation of observations or probabilities over a range.

Finance and accounting: Kumulering denotes accumulation of amounts over time, such as kumulert avkastning or kumulert rente, reflecting totals that grow as interest or returns are added.
