Kuark

Kuark is a term used in speculative physics and fiction to refer to a hypothetical elementary fermion or family of particles. It is not a standard component of the Standard Model and there is no experimental evidence for Kuarks.

The name is a variant spelling of quark used in some languages or by authors to distinguish a hypothetical version; in many works kuarks are described as bearing similar properties to quarks, including multiple flavors and the ability to form bound states.

In theoretical models, kuarks may come in several flavors and carry a type of color charge, binding into composite particles such as kuark baryons or mesons. They are often assumed to interact via a strong-like gauge interaction, and some proposals include fractional electric charge or a hidden sector.

Experimental status remains open without confirmed detections. High-energy collider data and precision measurements place constraints on kuark masses and interactions; absence of deviations from Standard Model predictions limits the parameter space in models that include kuarks.

In science fiction and popular science writing, kuark is used as a stand-in for primitive or exotic matter, allowing exploration of confinement, mass generation, and early-universe scenarios without invoking known quark physics.
