Krystalers

Krystalers are individuals who work with krystal, a crystalline material prized for its optical clarity and unique energy-related properties. The term is used in speculative fiction, digital maker communities, and some subcultures to describe artisans, miners, and engineers who cultivate, mine, cut, and assemble krystals into devices and artworks.

Krystal can be natural or synthetic. Natural krystals form geologically; synthetic krystals are grown in laboratories to high purity and defect control. The material is characterized by high refractive index, low impurities, and strong lattice stability, properties that make it useful in photonics, sensors, and decorative lighting.

Practices and tools include lapidary equipment, precision cleaving and facetting, microassembly, and sometimes non-destructive testing. In artistic uses, krystalers create prisms, sculpture, and lighting installations; in technical uses, they integrate krystals into optical components and energy devices.
