Kryptografiaan

Kryptografiaan is the Finnish word for cryptography. Cryptography is the practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of third parties called adversaries. Modern cryptography is largely concerned with meeting the requirements of information security and information assurance.

The field of cryptography can be divided into several areas, including symmetric-key cryptography, public-key cryptography, and hash functions. Symmetric-key cryptography uses the same key for encryption and decryption. Public-key cryptography, also known as asymmetric cryptography, uses a pair of keys: a public key for encryption and a private key for decryption. Hash functions produce a fixed-size output from an input of variable size, and are often used for data integrity checks.

Cryptographic algorithms are fundamental to many technologies, including online banking, digital signatures, and secure websites (HTTPS). The development of cryptography has a long history, dating back to ancient civilizations. However, modern cryptography has seen rapid advancements, especially in the digital age, driven by the need to protect sensitive information in an increasingly interconnected world. The field continues to evolve with new research and the development of more sophisticated algorithms.
