Kristálynövekedés, also known as crystal growth, refers to the process by which a solid crystal is formed from a solution, melt, or more rarely, a gas. This process involves the ordered arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules into a specific crystal lattice structure. The growth typically occurs at the interface between the crystalline phase and the parent phase.

The driving force for kristálynövekedés is usually a supersaturation or supercooling of the parent phase. When the concentration of the solute exceeds its solubility limit in a solution, or when a liquid is cooled below its freezing point, the system becomes thermodynamically unstable.
