Kristallernas

Kristallernas is a Swedish indie pop duo originating from Stockholm, formed in 2014 by vocalist and guitarist Sofia Forsberg and bassist/multi‑instrumentalist Erik Lundqvist. The pair met during their studies at the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm and began writing songs in a shared apartment, drawing inspiration from 1960s folk as well as 1990s Britpop. Their sound is characterised by bright, jangly guitar riffs, layered acoustic textures, and Forsberg’s emotive, slightly breathy vocal style. Lyrically the duo explores themes of love, memory, and urban melancholy with a poetic touch.

The duo released their debut EP, Ljus (Light), in 2015, which garnered positive reviews in the Swedish indie press, including Dagens Nyheter and Scandipop. They followed up with their first full‑length album, Glada Tågsätter (Happy Train Seats), in 2017; the album topped the Swedish Heatseekers chart and earned a nomination for the Swedish Grammis in the indie/alternative category. A notable track, “Solen Söker Skugga,” was included on the soundtrack of the 2018 Netflix drama Vägen till Hemmet.

Kristallernas toured extensively throughout Scandinavia, sharing stages with artists such as Peter Bjorn and John, The Radio Dept., and Swedish indie star Natalia Klavert. Their live performances are noted for their intimate atmospheres, often incorporating looping pedals and subtle percussion. The duo continues to write and record in Stockholm, with a third album scheduled for release in early 2025.
