Kredsløbsteori

Kredsløbsteori, also known as the circular economy, is an economic model that aims to eliminate waste and the continual use of resources by keeping resources in use for as long as possible, extracting the maximum value from them while in use, and then recovering and regenerating products and materials at the end of each service life. The concept was first introduced by the Dutch economist Jan van der Vaart in 1971, but it gained significant attention in the 1990s with the work of the Dutch economist Herman E. Daly.

The circular economy is based on three key principles: design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems. It contrasts with the traditional linear economy, which is based on the extraction of raw materials, the production of goods, their distribution and use, and ultimately their disposal or incineration with little to no reuse of materials.

The circular economy can be achieved through various strategies, including product design for durability and recyclability, extended producer responsibility, and the development of new business models that promote the sharing and reuse of products. It also involves the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The circular economy has the potential to create significant economic, environmental, and social benefits. It can help to reduce the environmental impact of economic activity, create new jobs and business opportunities, and promote a more sustainable and equitable society. However, achieving a circular economy requires significant changes in the way that products are designed, manufactured, and used, as well as in the way that businesses and governments operate.
