Kotitaloukset, or family households in Finnish, refer to the traditional family structures that have historically been central to Finnish society. These households typically consist of a married couple and their children, often living together in a single household unit. The concept of the family household has been a cornerstone of Finnish social and cultural life, influencing everything from housing policies to family laws.

In Finland, the nuclear family model—where parents and their dependent children live together—has been the most common form of household arrangement.
