Kooritakse
Kooritakse is an Estonian grammatical form derived from the verb koorima, meaning to peel. In ordinary usage, kooritakse denotes that the action of peeling is performed on the object by an unspecified agent, such as a cook or a machine. As a finite form, it appears in sentences without naming the actor and is common in instructional texts, recipes, and procedural descriptions.
Formation and grammar: The present passive is formed by adding the suffix -takse to the verb stem
- Porgandid kooritakse enne küpsetamist. The carrots are peeled before baking.
- Köögiviljad kooritakse ja lõigatakse viiludeks. The vegetables are peeled and sliced.
Notes: Kooritakse is one of several present passive forms in Estonian that use -takse. Other verbs may
