Konjugere

Konjugere is the process of inflecting a verb to express different grammatical categories. In languages that use verb conjugation, the form of a verb changes to indicate tense, aspect, mood, voice, person, number, and sometimes other features such as evidentiality. The set of forms for a given verb is called a conjugation paradigm or a conjugation table.

In Danish and Norwegian, the term konjugere is used as the action of applying this process to verbs. These languages rely on a combination of stem changes and affixes; the present tense forms often resemble a single form across persons, while past and other tenses employ auxiliaries or endings.

Conjugation is a central concept in morphology and language learning. Learners study regular conjugation patterns and memorize irregular forms. Conjugation interacts with other processes such as stem-changing verbs, suppletion, and periphrasis (auxiliary verbs) to express time, aspect, mood, and voice. It is distinct from declension, which applies to nouns and adjectives.
