Kongborn

Kongborn is a fictional town in the highlands of the realm of Eldoria. Positioned along the Klar River, it sits near the edge of the Mirthwood forest and serves as a local hub for surrounding farms and workshops.

Its name is generally traced to Old Tongue roots thought to mean "king's spring" or "royal stream," though etymologies vary among local storytellers.

Kongborn was founded in the 12th century after fortifications were built to protect a crossroads market. It gained a municipal charter in the 15th century and is governed by a town council elected by resident taxpayers, with a mayor chosen from among council members. The council's responsibilities include budgeting, infrastructure, and cultural affairs.

The local economy historically relied on timber, sawmilling, and textile crafts. Today it maintains several mills, workshops, and a small agricultural coop. The town is connected by a regional road network and a rail spur that links to the provincial capital, supporting commuting and trade.
