Kondenzálódás

Kondenzálódás is the process by which a substance in a gaseous state changes into a liquid state due to a change in temperature and/or pressure. This occurs when the kinetic energy of the gas molecules decreases to a point where the intermolecular forces can overcome the thermal motion, causing them to cluster together and form a liquid. The reverse process is called vaporization.

A common example of condensation is the formation of water droplets on the outside of a cold glass on a warm day. Here, the water vapor in the air comes into contact with the cold surface of the glass. The air cools, reducing the kinetic energy of the water vapor molecules. As they lose energy, they slow down, allowing the attractive forces between them to become significant, and they condense into liquid water. Another familiar instance is dew formation on grass overnight.

Condensation plays a crucial role in many natural phenomena and industrial processes. It is a fundamental part of the water cycle, responsible for cloud formation and precipitation. In meteorology, understanding condensation is vital for forecasting weather patterns. Industrially, it is used in power generation, desalination plants, and refrigeration systems to efficiently transfer heat or recover liquids. The temperature at which condensation occurs for a given pressure is known as the dew point.
