Kondensatrücklauf refers to the process of returning condensed water, or condensate, from a steam system back to the boiler. This condensate is essentially pure water and still contains a significant amount of heat energy. Recovering this condensate offers several economic and operational benefits.

When steam is used in industrial processes or heating systems, it transfers its latent heat to the surrounding environment or process. As it loses heat, the steam condenses back into liquid water. This condensate can accumulate in various parts of the system, such as steam traps, heat exchangers, and piping.
