Kondensaatiokovettuminen is a Finnish term that translates to condensation curing in English. It refers to a type of chemical curing process where a liquid or semi-liquid material hardens or solidifies through a reaction that releases water or another volatile substance. This process is commonly seen in many adhesive and sealant applications.

The mechanism of condensation curing typically involves the reaction of two or more components within the material. As these components react, they form a more rigid, cross-linked polymer network. During this reaction, a byproduct, such as water, alcohol, or acetic acid, is released into the atmosphere. The evaporation or diffusion of this byproduct drives the curing process forward, leading to the hardening of the material.

Materials that utilize condensation curing are often supplied as one-part or two-part systems. In one-part systems, all necessary components are mixed and stable until exposed to atmospheric moisture, which triggers the condensation reaction. Two-part systems require the user to mix the components just before application to initiate the curing process.
