Kompressiovaiheet
Kompressiovaiheet refers to the stages of compression in a cycle, commonly encountered in internal combustion engines and refrigeration systems. In the context of an internal combustion engine, the compression stroke is a critical phase where the fuel-air mixture within the cylinder is compressed by the upward movement of the piston. This compression increases the pressure and temperature of the mixture, preparing it for ignition. The degree of compression, known as the compression ratio, significantly impacts engine efficiency and power output. Higher compression ratios generally lead to better fuel economy but can also increase the risk of knocking or pre-ignition if the fuel octane rating is insufficient.
In refrigeration cycles, compression is the process where a refrigerant gas is compressed by a compressor.
