Kompilacije

Kompilacije is a term used in several South Slavic languages, including Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, and Slovenian, to denote a collection or assortment assembled from existing material. The word comes from the verb kompilirati or kompilirati, meaning to compile, and is used across different domains such as music, publishing, and computing.

In music and media, a kompilacija refers to a compilation album: a release that gathers tracks from one or more artists into a single collection. Such albums can be greatest-hits sets, thematic surveys, soundtrack collections, or curated by a label or producer. They may include songs previously issued on separate albums, as well as remixes or rare tracks. Licensing and rights clearance across multiple publishers are common considerations, and digital platforms have broadened distribution and discoverability.

In computing, kompilacije denotes the compilation process, where source code is translated into executable machine code by a compiler. This is a distinct stage from interpretation or execution, and it may be followed by linking to produce an executable or library. Compilation errors, such as syntax or type errors, prevent building the final program and require source-level fixes.

In literature and publishing, kompilacije describe anthologies or collections of works by multiple authors, curated around a theme, genre, or period. Such collections are used in education, research, and cultural preservation, and can offer exposure to a range of voices within a given field.
