Kommunikasjonsmyndighet

Kommunikasjons, in the Scandinavian sense, refers to the process by which information is conveyed, interpreted, and shared among individuals, groups, organizations, and machines. The term covers verbal and nonverbal messaging as well as the technologies that enable transmission across distances and contexts. In academic and professional use, kommunikasjons studies examine how messages are produced, distributed, received, and acted upon within social systems.

Core concepts include encoding, channel, decoding, feedback, and noise. The Shannon–Weaver model introduced the basic flow of information from sender to receiver, while Schramm’s and Lasswell’s models emphasized interaction and context. Modern approaches consider culture, power relations, audience interpretation, and the ways technology shapes message design and dissemination.

Technologies underpinning kommunikasjons range from spoken and written language to telecommunication networks, broadcasting, and digital platforms. The rise of the internet, mobile devices, social media, and data analytics has transformed how messages are created, shared, and measured. Ethical considerations such as privacy, accuracy, consent, and accessibility are central to contemporary practice.

Applications span numerous fields, including journalism and mass communication, corporate and internal communication, marketing and public relations, diplomacy, and security. Research in this area seeks to understand effects of messages on attitudes and behaviour, as well as to improve clarity, reach, and credibility of communication across diverse audiences.
