Kometiäjoki

Kometiäjoki is a river located in Finnish Lapland, Finland. It is a tributary of the larger Kemijoki river, which eventually flows into the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea.

The Kometiäjoki river is approximately 35 kilometers long and originates from a series of wilderness lakes in the Kчасно region of Finnish Lapland. The river flows southwest through a largely uninhabited area of dense forests, traversing over 40 small waterfalls and rapids along its course. In some areas, the riverbed is rocky and fast-flowing, requiring experienced kayakers and canoeists to navigate its waters.

The Kometiäjoki river has historically supported a diverse range of aquatic life, including Arctic char, grayling, and trout. The river's remote location also makes it an important habitat for several species of fungi and lichens native to the region. Despite the impact of human settlement on the local ecosystem, efforts have been made to conserve and protect the natural environments of the Kometiäjoki and surrounding regions.
