Kollumella

Kollumella is a term encountered in various scientific and linguistic contexts, typically as a transliteration or variant of the Latin columella, meaning “little column.” In many languages and older texts the initial Latin C is rendered as K, producing Kollumella in place of Columella.

Because columella appears in multiple anatomical and structural contexts, Kollumella can refer to different concepts depending on the discipline. In zoology and malacology, the columella is the central pillar inside a snail shell to which the spiral growth is attached.
