Kohtauksia

Kohtauksia is the plural form of the Finnish noun kohtaus, a word with several related meanings. In everyday language and in media, kohtaus most commonly refers to a scene or a sequence within a play, film, television program, or other narrative work. A film can be described as containing many intense kohtauksia, or a play may be structured around key kohtauksia that shape its mood and pacing.

In medical and general usage, kohtaus also denotes an episode or attack that comes on suddenly. This sense is common in phrases such as epileptinen kohtaus, meaning an epileptic seizure.
