Kodebøker
Kodebøker, often translated as codebooks or cipher keys, are essential tools in cryptography and secure communication. Historically, they consisted of a pre-arranged set of rules or a lexicon used to encrypt and decrypt messages. These books would contain specific keywords, phrases, or numerical substitutions that represented sensitive information, allowing two parties to communicate secretly. The security of a kodebok relied entirely on keeping its contents confidential. If the kodebok fell into the wrong hands, the encryption would be compromised.
In modern times, the concept of a kodebok has evolved significantly with the advent of digital cryptography.
