Kockakristály

Kockakristály, meaning "cube crystal" in Hungarian, is a term sometimes used colloquially to describe cubic crystals, particularly those formed from minerals that naturally crystallize in a cubic system. This crystal system is characterized by three equal axes that intersect at right angles. Common minerals that exhibit this morphology include halite (rock salt), fluorite, and galena. The cubic system is one of the seven crystal systems and is known for its high degree of symmetry. Crystals in this system can take various forms, such as cubes, octahedrons, and dodecahedrons. The precise shape and appearance of a kockakristály depend on the specific mineral composition, growth conditions, and the presence of impurities. While not a formal scientific term, "kockakristály" serves as an accessible descriptor for these geometrically simple yet often aesthetically pleasing crystalline structures, especially within geological or mineralogical contexts in Hungary.
