Kobbersulfatpe

Kobbersulfatpe is a chemical compound with the formula CuSO4. It is the sulfate salt of copper(II). In its anhydrous form, it is a white solid. When hydrated, it typically forms a vibrant blue crystalline solid, commonly known as bluestone or blue vitriol. The most common hydrate is pentahydrate, CuSO4·5H2O. This hydrated form is readily soluble in water, producing a blue solution. The anhydrous form readily absorbs water from the atmosphere, turning blue.

Kobbersulfatpe has a variety of applications. It is used in agriculture as a fungicide, herbicide, and pesticide to control fungal diseases on crops and to remove algae. It is also employed in mining to help flotation processes, particularly for separating sulfide minerals. In industry, it serves as a mordant in dyeing textiles and as a component in various chemical processes. Furthermore, it has applications in electroplating, as a component in battery electrolytes, and historically, in the production of pigments. Its distinctive blue color also makes it useful as a tracer dye in water systems. Kobbersulfatpe should be handled with care as it can be toxic if ingested and is an irritant to skin and eyes.
