Kitbuqa
Kitbuqa Noyan, also spelled Kitbuqa or Kitbuqa Noyon, was a Mongol general of the Ilkhanate who served under Hulagu Khan in the mid-13th century. He is best known for commanding part of the Mongol army during the 1258 siege of Baghdad, a campaign that led to the destruction of the Abbasid Caliphate and a drastic shift in the political landscape of the Middle East. In the Baghdad operation, Kitbuqa is described in various sources as commanding the left wing of the assault, coordinating with other Mongol generals to overwhelm the city’s defenses.
