Kipufogógázenergia refers to the thermal energy contained within the exhaust gases produced by internal combustion engines. This heat is a significant byproduct of the combustion process and represents a wasted energy resource if not captured. Various technologies exist to recover and utilize this waste heat, improving overall energy efficiency and reducing emissions.

One common method of exhaust gas energy recovery is through thermoelectric generators (TEGs). These devices convert heat directly into electricity using the Seebeck effect. Another approach involves exhaust heat exchangers, which can be used to preheat engine coolant, intake air, or even generate steam for auxiliary power. Turbochargers are a well-established example of exhaust gas energy utilization, where the kinetic energy of the exhaust gases drives a turbine that compresses intake air, thereby increasing engine power and efficiency.

Emerging technologies include Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems that can convert the low-grade heat from exhaust gases into mechanical work, which can then be used to generate electricity. The captured energy can be used to supplement the vehicle's electrical system, reduce the load on the alternator, or even contribute to propulsion in hybrid vehicles. By recovering and repurposing exhaust gas energy, it is possible to enhance fuel economy, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the overall sustainability of internal combustion engine applications. The development of more efficient and cost-effective exhaust heat recovery systems is an ongoing area of research and development.
