Kintail
Kintail is a geographic area and former provincial district located in the Highlands of Scotland. It lies to the west of Loch Ness and encompasses the glens of Gleann Shathail and Gleann Fhionnlaghais, leading towards the Atlantic coast. Historically, Kintail was a significant territory, forming part of the medieval kingdom of Ross. The region is characterized by its dramatic mountain scenery, including several Munros such as The Five Sisters of Kintail. The landscape is shaped by ancient geological forces and is a popular destination for hillwalking and mountaineering.
The name Kintail is thought to derive from the Gaelic Cinn Tàile, meaning "head of the tail,"
