Kiirusepiirangute
Kiirusepiirangute is the Estonian term for speed restrictions, the limits set on the speed of vehicles in various contexts. They appear on public roads, private roads and other transport corridors to ensure safety, manage traffic flow and protect infrastructure. Speed restrictions can be in force for the entire road segment or apply only during certain times of day, on specific days of the week, or for particular vehicle categories. The limits are posted on speed signs, marked directly on the pavement, or announced digitally via navigation systems and government websites.
Estonia legislates speed limits in the Road Traffic Rules, with common values of 50 km/h in built-up
The primary purpose of kiirusepiirangute is to reduce accidents and fatalities. Higher speeds increase stopping distances
