Kievans

Kievans are residents or natives of Kyiv, the capital and largest city of Ukraine. The term is built from Kiev, the traditional English name of the city. With the Ukrainian name Kyiv becoming standard in international usage, demonyms such as Kyivans or Kyivites have grown more common, and Kievans is generally considered an older or less common form today. In historical contexts, "Kievan" can refer to the medieval state of Kievan Rus or to residents of Kyiv in earlier periods.

Kyiv is a major political, economic, and cultural center in Eastern Europe. Kievans come from a mix of ethnic backgrounds, though the vast majority identify as Ukrainian.
