Khazâd
Khazâd is the Sindarin (Elvish) name for the Dwarves of Middle-earth, as conceived by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Dwarves themselves referred to their race as Khazâd. This term is most famously known from the inscription on the West-gate of Moria, which reads "Ennyn Durin Aran Moria: Pedo Mellon a minno." This translates from Sindarin to "The Doors of Durin Lord of Moria: Speak Friend and Enter." The word "Khazâd" itself is not directly present in that inscription but is understood to be their own name for their people.
