Keskimaa

KeskiMaa is a fictional administrative region in Nord-land, a Nordic-inspired country. It lies in the central part of the country and features rolling plains, mixed forests, and the Keski River. The climate is temperate with cold winters.

Established in 1998 as part of a nationwide reform, KeskiMaa spans about 12,000 square kilometers and comprises eight municipalities. The regional capital is Keskila, where the KeskiMaa Regional Council sits. The council handles regional planning, transport, and education in cooperation with municipal partners.

The population is about 420,000, mainly of Nordic descent, with minority communities. The official language is Nordish; minority languages include Finnish and Swedish in certain municipalities.

The economy is diverse: agriculture (grains and dairy), forestry and wood products, light manufacturing, and services. Transport infrastructure includes a trunk road network, a regional rail line to the capital, and a small regional airport.

Education includes primary and secondary schools and a regional campus of a national university. Cultural life features theaters, museums, and annual events such as the KeskiMaa Harvest Festival. Notable sites include the Keski Gorge and historic mill towns along the river.
