Kemeticism

Kemeticism, also known as the ancient Egyptian religion, refers to the modern revival and practice of the polytheistic religion that was indigenous to ancient Egypt. Followers, often called Kemetists, seek to reconstruct and practice the religious beliefs, rituals, and ethics of ancient Egypt. This includes the worship of a pantheon of deities such as Ra, Osiris, Isis, Horus, and others, often with an emphasis on their traditional roles and mythology.

Practitioners engage in various forms of worship, which may include prayer, offerings, and the celebration of ancient festivals. They often strive to live according to ancient Egyptian ethical principles, which emphasized truth, justice, and balance, often represented by the concept of Ma'at. Kemeticism is not a monolithic religion, and practices can vary among different groups and individuals. Some may focus on a particular deity or a specific period of ancient Egyptian history, while others adopt a broader approach.

The revival of Kemeticism gained momentum in the late 20th century, drawing inspiration from archaeological discoveries, historical texts, and scholarly research into ancient Egyptian religion. Modern Kemetists often view their practice as a way to reconnect with ancient wisdom, spiritual traditions, and cultural heritage. The religion is characterized by its reverence for nature, the cyclical understanding of life and death, and the importance of the afterlife.
