Kavagan

Kavagan is a coastal town in the fictional country of Veridia, located on the western shore of the Great Bay. It serves as the administrative center of Kavagan Province and functions as a local hub for fisheries, trade, and tourism.

The name Kavagan may derive from Veridian terms for harbor and settlement, though the exact origin is uncertain. Geographically, Kavagan sits on a sheltered harbor with a stone seawall, a small promenade, and rolling hills to the north. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool summers; annual rainfall averages around 1,100 millimeters.

Kavagan originated as a fishing hamlet in the 14th century. It gained prominence as a trading port in the early modern era, with port facilities expanded in the 19th century to accommodate growing shipping and rail connections.

As of 2020, Kavagan had a population of about 12,000. The economy centers on fishing and fish processing, complemented by small manufacturing, wholesale trade, and growing coastal tourism. Notable landmarks include the Old Market Hall and the Lighthouse of Nereus. Kavagan hosts an annual Market Day that draws regional traders. Administratively, Kavagan is a municipal unit within Veridia's Coastal Region, led by a mayor and council.
